Post Commander Correll called the meeting to order at 1000 on Wednesday, 8 Nov 2006.
There were 18 members in attendance.
Comrade Alvarez gave the opening prayer.
Commander led attendees in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and Section 3 of the Congressional Charter.

The Adjutant reported they had, and no comments or changes had been made. Comrade Saunders made motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Comrade Alvarez. Carried.
Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster:
QM Burnett presented the report. He explained why the Post General Fund was in the red and gave figures. Trustees audited report on 6 Nov. Comrade Alvarez made the motion to accept the report as presented, seconded by Surgeon Brady. Carried. The report is on file at the Post home, if anyone wants to see the report contact the Quartermaster.

Commander said that Charley Loughridge is doing better and recuperating. Hospital bills have been taken care of and waiting for final doctor bills. Still looking for donations to help with expenses, if you would like to donate contact the QM.

PHC Report:

2. PHC members conducted end of the month inventory on Oct 31.
3. Audits and Reviews: Canteen records were audited by Trustees on 6 Nov and found to be in good order. PHC members reviewed the canteen profit/loss statement and found it to be true and correct.
4. Canteen Report:
- Sales are improving.
- All Canteen expenses paid by Canteen. All bills current.
- Need to purchase new microwave oven. Purchase needs to be voted on.
- All employee records/canteen records are now secured in a locked container.
- New employee contracts are being rewritten and will be approved this week.
5. Meeting was adjourned at 1000 hours.
Membership Committee:
SVC Boruff gave report. Life Members 356, New 4, Cont 17, Total 377. Percentage: 93.33%. Five applications are being processed. Four Life Members and one current (annual) member. If you haven’t done so please renew your membership as soon as possible.
Amerasian Scholarship Committee:
QM will be putting up the list of students and requesting donations for presents.
Buddy Poppy Chairman:
Comrade Alvarez reported P860 ($17) was collected.
Seam Squirrel Report:
Comrade Phillips said that the scratch held on Nov 2 was good. He also went into ongoing preparations of Pup Tent participation in the upcoming CofA. He said that following the scratch on Friday, a social will be held at the Brass Knob at 1400, all VFW members are welcomed.
Web Master:
Comrade Scott Reid may take over as new Web Master.
Building Committee:
Nothing new still looking at sites/buildings.
Beach Bash:
The next meeting would be held on Wed, Nov 15 at 0900. Please attend we need many volunteers to help out.
CofA:
Registration is going well. All who plan to attend even if you are not going to stay at a local hotel, you need to register so that we know who is going and whether they will attend the banquet/hospitality suite or not and name tags can be made. Shirts have been ordered and delivered. If you had not ordered a shirt but desire one the Commander will order, but they will not be available until after the CofA. QM asked for volunteers to help him out with registration. Comrades Alvarez and Koeppen volunteered. Commander asked if anyone was interested in selling Convention Book ads and a volunteer to collect tickets at the banquet.
Comrade Alvarez led the membership in reciting the National Home Prayer.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
1. Nominations for Third Year Trustee were reopened. Comrade Koeppen nominated Comrade Bob Wright. Commander asked for any other nominations, there were none. Nominations were closed. Comrade Saunders made the motion for the adjutant to cast one unanimous vote for Bob Wright as Third Year Trustee.
2. Commander explained the ongoing situation with the Labor Board concerning Rudy
Bartolome. A new lawyer had to be hired to handle the case as the previous lawyer had to drop the case. The Commander got all the paperwork from the previous lawyer and had the date for the next hearing moved up to have time for the lawyer to prepare for the case.
NEW BUSINESS
1. The microwave in the kitchen no longer works and currently using one on loan. Commander said that we need to purchase a new one. Comrade Saunders made a motion for the Post to purchase a new microwave with a purchase limit of $150. Seconded by Comrade Best. During discussion Comrade Truax was asked if he could find a store with a buy1 - take 1 sale. The purchase of a new waffle iron was also brought up, as this is a low price item ($20) the Commander said it could come out of his fund. Motion was voted on and carried. (Note: Following meeting an anonymous member volunteered to purchase the items with his own funds if someone could buy it for the Post. Comrade Truax will try to purchase them during his trip to Manila.)
2. Commander told the membership that new shirts are being ordered for the Post Canteen for sale. He asked what style and color did they want. A selection was made with shirts being similar to those currently being sold. The largest size with be size 56. Comrade Cox made motion for the Post to order new shirts, seconded by Comrade Alvarez. Carried.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
1. Lee Andersen was invited to give a little talk concerning two ladies who previously worked at Health Visions in preparing Tri-Care forms for submission to Tri-Care. They are currently under employed and would like to prepare forms for members for 10% of any refund. They are very knowledgeable about Tri-Care and know which charges cannot be used. If an item is disallowed by Tri-Care they will follow up with new details/info to try to get payment. Dan Steakley who is opening up a business to help Tri-Care eligible members to submit claims said that he might be able to employ the ladies. Comrade Steakley said that he would be holding two meetings with interested members/others on the 17th at Bar Dixie and on the 20th at Mangos. Cost is $200 for families and $100 individuals annually. Cost will be paid upfront and if disallowed members would have six months to repaid without interest.
2. Advocate Training: Advocate Phillips read to the membership the rules for election from the Congressional Charter and By-laws.
3. Commander reminded the members of Fridays District VII Meeting to be held at Post 2485. He also said that he would like to see a good turnout from the Post at the Veterans Day ceremonies at Clark. Ceremony starts at 1100. Following the ceremony, Post 2485 will be having a barbeque with a live band. Also, the Shriners Golf Tournament is that day and at 1100 they will stop playing and have wreath-laying ceremony.
4. Prior to 50/50 Raffle, the Commander had one coupon for a free meal at the Mexican Cantina and five shirts for a draw. Comrade Alvarez won the meal and Comrades Phillips, Saunders, Alvarez and Dave Gorton (two shirts) won the shirts.
5. 50/50 Raffle was won by Comrade Brady. Total of P1400 ($29) was collected, P700 to the Post and P700 to Comrade Brady who donated his to the 13th month fund. Thank you.
Comrade Alvarez gave the Closing Prayer. Commander adjourned the meeting at 1120. Next meeting will be held at the Post Home at 1000, Wednesday 13 Dec 2006.
