OPENING CEREMONIES: Commander Doty called the meeting to order at 1000 hours, 8 JUNE. Opening ceremonies were held according to VFW Ritual. Twenty Post 11447 members were present and one visitor.
ROLL CALL OF OFFICERS:The Roll Call was taken by Adjutant Burnett. Four officers were absent, two excused and two not excused.
NEW RECRUITS:Logan C. Blackwelder, an active duty member with the Navy. Logan is an IRAQ war vet. Comrade Blackwelder is eligible for membership and his membership was approved. Welcome aboard.
DISTINGUISHED GUESTS: Larry Lyons, PDC, Seam Squirrel PT 2.
MINUTES: Commander asked if the minutes from the previous meeting had been posted. The adjutant said that a copy of the minutes were posted 16 May on the bulletin board and sent to members via email. The minutes are also available on the website www.vfw11447.org. No changes were made. The Adjutant made the motion to accept the minutes as written, seconded by Comrade Boruff, motion carried.
QUARTERMASTER REPORT: Commander called for the report of the Quartermaster: QM Burnett presented the report and made the motion to accept the report as presented, seconded by Comrade Best, motion carried. The audit was conducted on 8 June. This was a full audit with all funds counted, statements examined and bank books verified as this was the Audit for the new VFW year. All funds were accounted for and no discrepancies found. The report is on file, if anyone wants to see the entire report, contact the QM.
QM gave the stats on Fil/Am Raffle Ticket sales: Total of 317 books sold to date (many sold books have not been turned in from other Posts/members). P79,500 has been collected.
SERVICE OFFICER REPORT: Besides the two members buried in the early part of the month (see the May minutes) two additional veterans were buried in May. Comrade Mike Pickens and Richard Blair, (owner of Liberty Call Pub)

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM: Field trip was held. They visited Mount Samat a WWII memorial honoring the defenders of Bataan then had a picnic and went swimming at a resort. School supplies were handed out on 5 June.
BUDDY POPPY CHAIRMAN: P110 was collected at the meeting.
WEBSITE: Updates ongoing.
BUILDING COMMITTEE: NTR
BEACH BASH COMMITTEE: Mango's the normal venue for the Beach Bash is under new management. However initial discussions indicate that the new manager will let the Post hold it again next year at Mango's and adjacent property which belongs to Arlene's Pawn Shop/Money Exchange.
PUP TENT 11: Seam Squirrel Cox said that they had a good Scratch on 2 June. Initiations were completed for Cooties Alvarado, Schrauben and Haulet.
POST HOUSE COMMITTEE: A complete inventory of bar and kitchen was completed at the end of May. Inventory of draw chips were also inventoried.
VFW NATIONAL HOME FOR CHILDREN: Commander asked Comrade Schrauben to say a prayer for our National Home for Children.

NEW BUSINESS
The QM passed out copies of the proposed Budget for 2011-12. He read each line item with explanations where needed. Upon completion the QM made the motion to accept the budget as presented. Motion seconded by Comrade Middleton. Two members asked about the entry for a maintenance man, it was explained that the position was for a part time employee who would work when needed. Comrade Callahan said he knows of two excellent workers that work for him but currently unemployed, Comrade Rowe also knew of one. The Commander said that they should come to the Post for an interview if interested. After some additional discussion the budget was approved.
Comrade Sullivan made a motion that the rules for the Daily, Super and Weekly be changed to allow Canteen workers to play. Motion seconded by Comrade Middleton. After a lengthy and somewhat heated debate, the Commander asked for a vote, the vote was 9 yes, 8 no and 2 abstentions. Following the vote Comrade Best said that he would turn over the running of the draws to someone else.
FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER
Comrade Sullivan said that it appears that there will not be anyone who wants to be a volunteer Canteen Manager; maybe one should be hired to fill the position. After a short discussion the Commander said that this is an action for the Post House Committee to take up at their next meeting.
District Meeting will be held at the Post on 3 July at 11am All members are encouraged to attend. There will be a Cootie Swarm on 2 July at 12am followed by a Social at Hot Zone Bar, beginning at 2pm. Tickets for the event are available from Jerry Rowe and Sully. Tickets cost P500 if purchased in advance, if purchased at the Hot Zone they will cost P600. Food and drinks will be provided.
FIL/AM Day (4th July) Event. Starting time is Noon; it will be a pot luck event. We need donations of pot luck items. Sign up list is posted at the Post House. The Fil/Am flyer is attached.
Comrade Callahan said that the Barretto National High School is operating this year in two shifts. First shift 6am-1:30pm and the second from 11am - 7pm. He also said that along with his wife they are trying to put 30 poor kids through school, he asked if anyone had old clothes/school uniforms he would appreciate it if they could be donated.
Comrade Sullivan asked what the role of the Dynamic Women with the VFW. Commander said that they are an independent organization with no ties with the VFW; however they do help us out with some of our events including the Beach Bash.
Fil/Am Raffle tickets are available from the Post via email for stateside members like we did last year. When the QM receives your request he will send you the raffle stub numbers by return email. After the drawing on the 4th the winning numbers will be sent to all members via the Minutes email list. If a winning member lives outside the Philippines, a check payable in U.S. Dollars will be sent to the winner. We had a good turn out from stateside members last year and hope to improve this year. Tickets are $6.00 per book of 11 tickets. Send your request to vfw11447@ymail.com. Checks are made payable to VFW Post 11447 and mailed to Tom Burnett, PSC 517 Box RS, FPO AP 96517.
CDR Dennis Doty won the 50/50 raffle. P1800 was collected. The Dennis donated his winnings to the Post Relief Fund.
CLOSING CEREMONIES: Closing Ceremonies were held according to Ritual and the meeting was adjourned at 1110 hours. The next GMM will be held on 13 July at 1000 hours at the Post Home.
