VFW Post 11447: JULY 2005 Meeting Minutes

There were 34 members in attendance.

Senior Vice Commander introduced two new post members. Euclides Miranda and Steven Avens a transferee.

Commander called for the Service Officer's report: Comrade Alvarez that Frank McDaid, annual member of the post will be cremated and remains sent to his family.  

Commander called for the Surgeon's report: Next Community Medical Outreach will be held 25 Sep., additional information to follow.

Committee Reports:

a. Membership Committee: Total membership is 388 for 104.58%. Which includes 328 life, 10 new, 44 continuous and 6 reinstated. Four life and eight annual members are either in the mail or being processed.  

b.Seam Squirrel Report: Comrade Phillips reported that the scratch will be held on the 21th of July and the social and District meeting on the 23rd.  

c.Web Master: National held a website contest in June, results are not in. Webmaster phone has been down for 2 weeks, however he will forward updates to the website as soon as he can.  

d.COA: Post11447 will host the COA in Dec 2-4 2005.

e.Building Committee: The building committee still looking at sites. The owner of the post home is willing to go with a 10 year lease, with 3 year rent increases. The committee is still fighting for a 15-20 year lease    

UNFINISHED BUSINESS

  1. Commander Correll swore in Frank Redmond (Guard), Rich Truax (Trustee), and Mike Kelley (Post Home Committee).

NEW BUSINESS  

1.Comrade Phillips presented Cootie application for Charles Haynes. Motion to accept Comrade Haynes as a Cootie was made by Comrade Phillips, seconded by Comrade Saunders, carried.

2.The canteen microwave finally, after 12 years of faithful service, has died. Due to the urgent need for a microwave in the kitchen, one was purchased by Canteen   FOR THE GOOD OF THE ORDER   1.Past Post Commander Billman presented Commander's pin to Commander Correll.   2.Commander Correll read three awards that were presented to the Post.

3.Comrade Truax asked who was responsible for maintenance and renting of wall space. Post employee Wilson will maintain the ads on the wall. Comrade Bronson will take care of space rentals.

4.Comrade Lynn said that a DoD team was in Angeles City , Baguio , and Manila to look into the feasibility of a unit coming to the Philippines to make ID cards. If approved the cards will be made from info already in DEERS, persons wanting ID's will have to go to Manila , there will be appointment times. This mays take place in Sep. New subject: Tricare. HealthVisions is not a Tricare provider, they are a claim processor for doctor's, hospitals, and clinics who are providers.

5.A WELL DONE was presented to Tony Baucom, the Cooties and everyone else who provided time and effort in selling the raffle tickets for the Fourth of July raffle.  

6.Bill Landry said he made up new Emergency Notification Cards for members and non-members to fill out so in case of emergency we would know whom to contact. Blank cards can be found at the canteen in the racks.
