VFW POST 11447 - Paul P. Busek

On September 1992, the first Post meeting was held at Blue Jeans Bar in Barrio Barretto, Subic Bay , Philippines. Through the hardwork and determination of the veterans, Post 1147 Paul P. Busek was established.

Paul P. Busek was selected as the namesake of the Post. He was a friend and inspiration to many of our members during his life in the Navy here in the Philippines.

The first time I met Jim (in 1993) he was working at the local Retired Activities Office (RAO) in Olongapo City, Philippines. He became the Director of the RAO following the death of Chester Gross in Feb 2008. Jim retired from service at the RAO earlier this year. He is survived by his wife and has a son on active duty in the Navy, an HMC (E-7). Services will be performed for Jim on Wednesday, 26 Nov and he will be cremated on Thursday. "Rest in Peace Jim".

Charles Alan "Charlie Brown" Brown, ENCS (E8), VM, October 7, 2014.
Albert W. Rogers, better known as "AW" died today while in ICU at Baypointe hospital the last few days. AW would have been 76 on 26 Dec. He was a retired RMC (E7), USN. Comrade Rogers is a Vietnam vet serving incountry with the "phoenix program". AW was well know and liked here in the Philippines and will be missed, besides being a VFW member he was also an active member of the San Antonio FRA, near the San Miguel Naval Facility where he once served. A shipmate sent this email to me this morning "8-up", Rogers was the last of a breed - we were stationed at san miguel in the mid-70's, along with "dirty dan"; "big lou"; "drunen ducan", et al. Rip old friend/shipmate and comrade. I will down a bottle of SMB over your grave and pass it to you”.
